Ethiopia to upgrade IP law, eying WIPO membership

Intellectual Property Watch and Walta have reported that the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) has now completed a draft intellectual property law which EIPO will present to the Ethiopian government in the coming months. The law is designed to enable Ethiopia to join the World Intellectual Property Organization. Patent applications are apparently on the increase in Ethiopia, with some 1,794 applicants having been 'certified' over the past decade.
